- Lithium niobate (LiNbO₃) is a useful optoelectronic material. It not only possesses unique piezoelectric, optical and photoelastic properties, but also exhibits excellent mechanical and chemical stability.
- Its outstanding electro-optic, acousto-optic and nonlinear optical characteristics make it a highly attractive material in the field of integrated optics.
- CQT provides 6-inch diameter single-crystal optical-grade LN material with reduced impurity levels. Doped wafers of other specifications are available: Er:LN, MgO:LN and Fe:LN.
- The most commonly used orientations for SAW applications are Y-cut and 128° Y-cut, which are ideal for signal processing in television transmission and reception. The 128° Y-cut with X-propagation is reported to have the lowest spurious signal level.
- Lithium niobate (LN) is a ferroelectric material with exceptional electro-optic, nonlinear and piezoelectric properties.
- Lithium niobate crystals are essential materials for optical waveguides, mobile phones, piezoelectric sensors, optical modulators and various other linear and nonlinear optical applications.
- The largest application of lithium niobate (LN) is in SAW devices for telecommunications equipment.
- For voice and data communications, SAW devices such as SAW filters and SAW duplexers are implemented in communication equipment as filters to suppress noise and interference.
- Lithium niobate (LN) crystals are also used in optical applications.
