They are widely used in resonators, filters, transducers, high\u2011frequency surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices and bulk acoustic wave devices.<\/li>\n<li>Specifically, LiTaO\u2083 is highly desirable for both sonar and optical applications due to its high electromechanical coupling coefficient and low acoustic attenuation. Typical cutting angles for SAW applications include 36\u00b0 Y\u2011cut, 42\u00b0 Y\u2011cut and X\u2011cut orientations.<\/li>\n<li>An innovative technology in LiTaO\u2083 production involves a reduction process that yields \u201cblack\u201d wafers free from pyroelectric discharge, making them ideal for high\u2011frequency SAW applications.<\/li>\n<li>To produce these reduced wafers, LiTaO\u2083 crystals are chemically reduced under a controlled atmosphere. This process effectively eliminates the pyroelectric effect while preserving key material properties such as the Curie temperature and piezoelectric characteristics.<\/li>\n<li>The resulting black LiTaO\u2083 wafers not only neutralize electric charges but also exhibit significantly reduced optical transmittance.<\/li>\n<li>These black LiTaO\u2083 wafers offer distinct advantages, especially in applications where prevention of pyroelectric discharge and high\u2011frequency operation are critical.
